Prioritize green spaces through policy, planning and environmentally sound practices
Protect our tree canopy and air quality
Reduce our impact on wildlife and native plants
Enhance and update our parks
Travelers Rest, SC is beautiful and lush. Our natural resources and green spaces are an essential part of our quality of life and identity, and I believe we can preserve them through policy, planning, and environmentally sound practices. I will prioritize protecting our beautiful tree canopy and air quality, and make sure we consider space for wildlife and native plants to survive.
I also want to work on the revitalization of Gateway Park so that this wonderful green space can continue to accommodate a wide range of recreational activities with clean, updated facilities. Did you know Gateway Park was the original location of Travelers Rest High School in the 1950s?
A couple of years ago I visited Austin, TX. While there I explored the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail, an urban path that runs through the heart of Austin. They have worked hard to provide green spaces within and around the city, as well as protected areas to accommodate wildlife and native plants all along their trails and within their parks.
Here's my view of the Butler Park and the trail near my hotel.
