For those who are curious about the boutique hotel planned for the corner of Edwards Street and Old Buncombe (by The Staytion), the following is a summary from our City Planning Director about the process and procedure up to this point, and what is required moving forward. Please note that this project was approved before I joined Council in 2023, so I may not have all the answers, but I will gladly see what I can find out. Stay tuned for updates.

Proposal History
• A zoning map amendment was filed in November of 2020 to annex and rezone the subject property.
• A neighborhood meeting was held December 15, 2020.
• The application was considered by Planning Commission and City Council.
• The annexation and the rezone were approved under Ordinance O-03-21 on February 18, 2021.
• The Final Development Plan, which is required following the Preliminary Development Plan approval, was filed later in 2021 and approved by Planning Commission on November 23, 2021.
• A couple months ago, a revision to the Final Development Plan was submitted and approved by the Planning Commission.
What happens next?
• The applicant will submit a disturbance permit to Greenville County Land Development. The Pre Design Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 16th at 11:00.
• The City Planning Director will review the submittal to verify that the plans are in keeping with the approved Final Development Plan.
• Following that, a Building Permit will be filed. The City Planning Director will review that submittal to verify that plans are in keeping with the Final Development Plan. If they are not, the Final Development Plan will need to be revised. If it is a major change, it will come back before City Council.
